Summary

PLT vs. steroid vs. PLT + steroid, which treatment is most effective in lateral epicondylitis (or tennis elbow) and supraspinatus calcific tendinitis.

Eligibility Criteria

Lateral epicondylitisInclusion Criteria:Tenderness at lateral epicondyle more than 3 monthsUltrasound-confirmed lateral epicondylopathyPain VAS ≥ 3/10 during wrist resistive extensionNo treatment response to NSAID and physiotherapyExclusion Criteria:Pregnancy or lactationCarpal tunnel syndrome (the same arm) in one yearCervical radiculopathyTaking NSAID in one weekReceiving PRP or steroid injection in one monthHistory of bacteremia, cellulitis or skin ulcer in three monthsRheumatoid arthritisMalignancyPoorly controlled diabetets mellitus (DM), liver and kidner diseasesSevere anemia (Hb<5)ThrombocytopeniaHistory of tennis elbow surgeryHistory of elbow traumaSupraspinatus calcific tendinisInclusion Criteria:Hawkins-Kennedy test or empty can test, one of which is positiveUltrasound-confirmed (calcification > 2mm)Pain VAS ≥ 3/10 over right deltoid area more than 3 monthsNo treatment response to NSAID and physiotherapyExclusion Criteria:Pregnancy or lactationCarpal tunnel syndrome (the same arm) in one yearCervical radiculopathyTaking NSAID in one weekReceiving PRP or steroid injection in one monthHistory of bacteremia, cellulitis or skin ulcer in three monthsRheumatoid arthritisMalignancyPoorly controlled DM, liver and kidner diseasesSevere anemia (Hb<5)ThrombocytopeniaHistory of shoulder surgeryHistory of shoulder trauma
