Dexmedetomidine in Topical Versus Peribulbar Anesthesia for Cataract Surgery

The aim of this study is to compare efficacy of dexmedetomidine as an additive to topical versus peribulbar anesthesia for cataract surgery

Inclusion Criteria:American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) physical status classification I or II who scheduled for eye surgeryExclusion Criteria:Patients who are younger than 18 yearsThe usual contraindications for regional anesthesia such as patients refusing LAClotting abnormalitiesImpaired mental statusAllergy to any of the study medicationspatients had the severe cardiac diseasechronic obstructive lung disease and a history of sleep apneacontraindications to the use of dexmedetomidinehistory or significant cardiovascular disease risk factorssignificant coronary artery disease or any known genetic predispositionhistory of any kind of drug allergydrug abusepsychological or other emotional problemsspecial diet or lifestyleclinically significant abnormal findings in physical examinationelectrocardiographic (ECG) or laboratory screeningknown systemic disease requiring the use of anticoagulants.
